We all either have been affected or know of family and friends who have been, by the hurricanes that grace us each summer. And at times we sit and watch the news and thank our lucky stars it was not us that got hit this time. Skydive Spaceland and the community that surrounds it was not so lucky this past summer, Hurricane Ike ran right through and felt a path of destruction in it's wake. Skydive Spaceland took up the challenge to help the community and held a Skydive: Spirit of Houston Fundraiser.
PD took up the challenge and donated to the local American Red Cross.
Here is a letter of thanks sent to PD from DZO Eric Boy
Dear Performance
Designs Team:
The staff and jumpers of Skydive
Spaceland would like to thank you for giving support to our Skydive: The
Spirit of Houston
You said it best, “the true
character of a person is known through how they help those in need” and your
support gave a great sense of relief. So
we thank you for your support in this great time of need and we graciously
accept the donation you made to our fundraiser and the Red Cross.
Skydive Spaceland, in conjunction with the skydiving profession and
local community vendors, raised
$6,000 to be given to the American Red Cross. Food
Collections for the hurricane victims gave a healthy start to the First
Baptist Church of Rosharon, which will provide food to local
families over the coming holiday season.
Additionally, we collected over 500lbs of pet food, which was given to
the Galveston County Animal Shelter to aid in caring for the 600 pets
that have been displaced to this shelter since the hurricane.
Once again we would like to
thank all vendors, attendees and staff who participated in making this the
success that it was.
