PD ZERO jumpers Cheryl Stearns and James Hayhurst traded first place medals in accuracy competition at Archway Skydiving Center in Vandalia, IL last weekend. Stearns won the ten-round North American Cup competition with a total of 13 centimeters, while Hayhurst won the three-round POPs classic accuracy event with "four cents". The POPS meet was held in honor of Lew Sanborn's (D-1) 80th birthday. This meet served as the North American debut of PD's new accuracy canopy, the ZERO. Demo ZERO canopies were also jumped in competition by longtime U.S. jumper Cheryl Whitford, as well as newcomer Eden Alisa, a top European competitor from the 1990s who has recently returned to competition. Alisa jumped a Zero 305 in the meet, while Whitford jumped a Zero 225. Both jumpers raved about the Zero's performance and both jumpers performed very well. Stearns and Hayhurst, along with U.S. Style & Accuracy Team competitors Marty Jones and Jimmy Drummond, will compete with ZEROs at the World Accuracy Championships in Montenegro, August 28th - Sept 4th.
