PD was started in 1983 and moved to Deland in 1990. In 1993 PD opened its doors at the newly built facility where it exists today. The new building was 16,000 sq ft and there were a mere 10 employee's on the factory floor back then. It seemed tiny compared to the PD facility of today that is about 40,000 sq ft and employs about 161 people. PD used to build all their canopies on the factory floor including the R&D canopies. As the company grew, so did the number of prototypes, and soon the R&D canopies were "getting in the way" of the factories ability to keep up with customers canopies. So we took one of the best sewers on the floor and moved her into the engineering department. This person needed to be able to perform any and all steps in the canopy production process. She'd be building canopies that had only before been seen on a computer screen and helping PD push our designs to the next level. Claire Wold was selected for this job.
Claire reached a milestone today as part of the PD Family. It was twenty years ago that she first came to work at PD. She's loved and respected by everyone here. As our test jumpers take flight with our new canopy designs, they do it with the utmost confidence. They know that it was assembled, one part at a time, by the skilled hands of Claire.
Thanks for all you do Claire, we're happy to have you as part of the PD team!!!
