Skydivers are a supportive lot. Perhaps that is a part of the community being so small and closely knit, or perhaps it's just the way skydivers are. Every month we receive requests for support for a boogie or an event, being held to support or raise funds for a cause, sometimes of personal nature (such as to cover medical costs), sometimes it's for the community (recent example would be Skydive Spaceland raising funds for the local Red Cross & food bank to help out after a hurricane). We try to support as many as we can.
But on a more personal level, many of you know Kevin Schafer, who works here at PD in our R&D department. A couple of weeks ago he had his hair trimmed. Now normally when Kevin gets a haircut or takes a bath it isn't something we feel the need to tell the world about, but this time it was pretty special. See, Kevin's sister is going through chemotherapy, fighting cancer. As often happens, her hair has started to fall out. To show his support and empathy, Kevin asked his girlfriend to give him a quick trim to match. Shannon was delighted to help out and of course had a little bit of fun with it (not on film, but we hear Kev sported a Mohawk for a couple of minutes).
The results (as Kevin put it): not too shabby for an old fart :)
We send our best wishes to Kevin's sister and hope for a fast and full recovery.
